Akira Kirton

Akira Kirton is the CEO of bp pulse. He was previously vice president for new business execution within bp’s future mobility & solutions divison and has worked within bp for 20 years. He has held numerous senior leadership positions, including leading bp’s global acetyls business, where he was responsible for the complete operational performance of the business. Prior to this, he was managing director for bp ventures Europe & Asia, helping to grow the portfolio to $500m capital invested, having led a number of game-changing deals, including investment in StoreDot, which is developing advanced batteries capable of being charged at ultra-fast speeds. He holds degrees in Law and Chemical Engineering, and has studied at Oxford University, Imperial College London, Princeton and Harvard Law School.
